Brain Health, Cognition, and Mental Health
Conditions affecting mood and cognition can impact quality of life for people with HIV as they age into older adulthood. This learning activity will provide an overview of HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND), as well as other conditions that may impact mood and cognition. Strategies for assessing and managing these conditions will be reviewed. The impact of living with these conditions will be highlighted through a patient’s personal perspective

- To discuss the neurologic complications seen in older adults with HIV
- To identify ways to screen for cognitive impairment in people aging with HIV
- To discuss the impact of mental health on people aging with HIV
